Ragwort and thistle removal: Rawcliffe Ings

Thursday 22nd May, 9.30-3:30pm

Join us at Rawcliffe Ings and help to improve this floodplain meadow by pulling out ragwort and thistles. Because ragwort can harm farm animals if it gets into a hay crop, we are aiming to remove it from the sward before it can cause any damage. We will also have a go at pulling as many thistles as we can in order to improve the diversity of this vital floodplain habitat, making more space for native wildflowers and plants which, in turn, support other species like bees and butterflies.

This session will take place at Rawcliffe Ings, which hopefully won't be underwater, as in the picture! We will meet at the Rawcliffe Bar park and ride (YO30 5XZ or what3words:vent.gave.rice). There are toilets and plenty of parking on site, and a few nearby cafes where food can be bought. The session is suitable for groups of 5-15 people. If your group is bigger than this, please get in touch and we will see what we can do.

Book this session for your team by clicking below, or for more information, contact Nicola Ward by emailing nicola@stnicks.org.uk.

If there are any health or mobility issues within your group that may affect someone carrying out the task, please get in touch and we will see what we can do to support you as there may be alternative tasks available. However not all tasks and sites are fully accessible.
