Being involved with St Nick's makes me relate to York in new and unexpected ways. It's made me notice not just the swathes of colourful blooms along the walls, but also the flora and fauna that's less conspicuous. It's made me think about the waste we produce and how it is managed to keep our environment clean. And it's made me grateful for the strength of the communities in this city, that create space to learn and support one another when we need it.

Emma is a middle aged white woman with a soft brown bob that sweeps from her forehead back behind her ears and neck. She is wearing very thick black framed glasses and is almost smiling at the camera.

What is your favourite part of working for or being involved with St Nicks? Getting the excuse to spend time on the reserve - I love it so much, that's why I got involved in the first place!

What is your favourite part of being involved with St Nicks? I enjoy being part of a group of like-minded individuals, working together to help support the biodiversity and sustainability of the city we all live in. I also love getting to visit the reserve regularly and seeing all the wonderful events the team puts on!

What is your favourite part of being involved with St Nicks? Knowing that we are making a tangible difference to the nature that we share our city with by providing a place for it to thrive, and an organisation supporting that which also develops locally focused action that will help make humankind a sustainable part of our planet.

What is your favourite part of being involved with St Nicks? Being involved in the board and getting to work with a great group of passionate individuals who have the success of St Nicks at their core is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my time at St Nicks so far. Knowing your part of something that is making a real impact to people's lives as well as benefitting the environment is truly the best feeling and celebrating every success and strive forwards at St Nicks is a part of this!

Savannah is a smiling white woman in her early middle age with a light brown/blonde bob that is halfway between her jaw and shoulders. She is in front of trees and leaves and is wearing a blue cardigan and a necklace with a large green pendant.

What is your favourite part of your role at St Nicks? I like the dynamic community - conversations are chocka with experience and energy. Dry as it sounds, I enjoy being on the checks-and-balances side of things.
