Himalayan balsam removal: River Ouse - Water End
Thursday 19th June, 9:30-4.30pm
Join us at Water End on the River Ouse and help to improve the riverbanks by pulling out the invasive plant, Himalayan balsam. Balsam can completely dominate an area, creating a monoculture which diminishes our all important biodiversity. By removing balsam, we are minimising it's spread across our watercourses and making room for native wildflowers and plants which, in turn, support other species like bees, butterflies and water voles.
This session will take place on the River Ouse where it flows round the bend near Water End bridge on the A1176. We will meet at the footpath off Landing Lane (what3words: discrepancy.agent.buyers). We are able to use the facilities of the Youth Hostel across the river, which is about a 10 minute walk away. There are toilets here we can use and a little cafe for lunch.
The session is suitable for groups up to 20 people. If your group is bigger than this, please get in touch and we will see what we can do.
