We have been declared a 2019 Bees’ Needs Champion by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). This proves that St Nicks and our wonderful volunteers really are the bees’ knees when it comes to supporting our buzzing buddies. The award goes to those who have shown dedication, innovation and creativity in making a real difference to pollinators.

A huge thank you to everyone who has worked with us to improve not only our own site but greenspaces across York, creating green corridors for bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. From scything and raking, to wildflower planting and seed sowing, to surveying and monitoring, it all makes such a huge difference. We’re sure the bees are very grateful too!
