We are excited to share that St Nicks has been recognised as a 2021 Weston Charity Awards winner.

St Nicks was one of the charities chosen from 150 applicants, all charities delivering youth, welfare or community services in the North of England, the Midlands and Wales. The award gives us the chance to invest in our future with a grant of £6,500 from the Garfield Weston Foundation and ten months of strategic planning support from a team of four business and charity leaders, through the leadership charity Pilotlight.

Tom Waring, Chief Officer, said

“The last year has been tough for everyone, and we have worked hard to adapt and keeping running our organisation to continue to benefit nature and our community during these tricky times. We are delighted to be recognised by the Weston Charity Awards, and will use the help that comes with the award to evolve and expand so we can respond even more quickly and effectively to the needs of people, nature and the environment to make a big difference in York and beyond.”

In congratulating St Nicks, Philippa Charles, director of the Garfield Weston Foundation said:

“As the pandemic shifts, we are seeing an altered landscape for small charities. Our selected charities have shown courage and resilience this year in delivering vital services in the face of uncertainty and growing need. This year, more than ever, the Foundation is helping charities shift gear by providing dedicated support for long-term planning.”

We look forward to sharing more about how the funding and support gained through this award will boost the work we do.
