Lord Mayor’s charity

At the inauguration (l-r): Sheriff's Lady Brenda Tyler, Sheriff Jonathan Tyler, Lord Mayor Dave Taylor, St Nicks Events Officer Ivana Jakubkova and Chief Officer Tom Waring

We are very pleased to be chosen as one of four charities supported by the city’s first ever Green Party Lord Mayor, Dave Taylor in 2016/17. As a good omen for York’s ambition to be a collaborative One Planet city, we are joining forces with York Racial Equality Network, York LGBT Forum and York Civic Trust to raise funds and awareness of all the good work our charities do. The city’s new Sheriff Jonathan Tyler is also Green and his wife Brenda is the author of a great children’s book series about the eco-minded Tomtes of Hilltop Wood.

We are raising funds for a flood-mitigation project aiming to replace non-native Himalayan Balsam plants along the Foss tributaries, Tang Hall and Osbaldwick Becks, with bank-stabilising native plants. Please get in touch if you’d like to help in any way and check out our Events page for special events with the Lord Mayor and Civic Party.
