While we are no longer involved in this project, you can contact other local Action Towards Inclusion providers via this link

Building Better Opportunities (BBO) is a nation-wide programme from The National Lottery Community Fund with matched funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) to invest in local projects that aim to tackle poverty and social exclusion and promote social growth. The project is being delivered across 39 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEPs) areas with different project titles and focus.

The BBO project in the York, North Yorkshire, East Riding LEP is called Action Towards Inclusion. Action Towards Inclusion has been set up in order to provide opportunities for people who are unemployed or economically inactive. The project offers a chance for participants to improve on maths, English, ICT and other vocational skills, to build confidence and self-esteem and to offer financial advice. It allows hard to reach, marginalised groups or individuals to get help to overcome the barriers into employment.

As part of the project, St Nicks was working alongside local partners and stakeholders in order to provide mentoring, training and engaging activities for participants, helping people to develop their own skills and moving them closer to employment market.

What could you gain from this opportunity?

The video below, beautifully made by Inspired Youth in December 2017, will give you a flavour of what it’s like to get involved.

The project is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, with match funding from European Social Fund (ESF), in partnership with Your Consortium.
