Summer 2021 – activities for children and families

Join us for a summer of adventure!
We have lot going on for children and families this summer. As well as activities at St Nicks, we will be at Heworth Holme for some great family friendly days.
You might also like to join our neighbours TCV at Hull Road Park for their Young Rangers programme for children 9 -13 years old  on Tuesdays 11 am – 3 pm for 6 weeks 27 July – 31 August. Text Rachel Earnshaw on 0779 8693718 for more details.
Family Friendly Days at Heworth Holme 

Day and date: Tuesdays 10th and 24th August

Times: 12 noon – 3 pm drop in anytime. 

2 pm Fun interactive session “How to be a Bird”. Learn how they live, what they eat and how they make their nests!

Location: Come in through the entrance to Heworth Holme on Bad Bargain Lane by the Scout Hut and walk down either path to the meadow area.

Nature Adventurers for under 10s and their families

Younger children and their families can join Forest School Practitioner Christine for our Nature Adventurer summer programme of den-building, mini-beast hunts, foraging, games, storytelling and crafts.

Day and date: Fridays  (30th July, 6th  13th, 20th, 27th August, 3rd Sept) with lunch included.

Times: 9.30 am – 1.30 pm (lunch 12.30 – 1.30pm)

Get crafty with nature

Bushcraft and nature activities for 10 – 12 year olds

Children over 10 with their parent’s consent can join our Green Mentor Freya.  Have fun playing in the woods and doing bushcraft activities, nature crafts, challenges and nature ID skills. Learn to look after the environment by making wildlife habitats, bird feeders or bug hotels, and have the chance to get involved in our Green Influencers project.

Day and date: Wednesday 28th July and then every Thursday in August (5th, 12th, 19th, 26th) and Thursday the 2nd September

Times: 10:00am-12:00pm plus lunch afterwards until 12.30 pm

Cost: Suggested donation £30 for all 6 sessions.  Fully funded places available.
