What’s wrong with TTIP?
Thu 14 May 2015 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
St Nicks Environment Centre, Rawdon Avenue, York, YO10 3ST
Sally Brooks of York No to TTIP and Kit Bennett of Frack Free York will give a talk on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). They will explain how this proposed trade agreement between the EU and US goes far beyond the traditional measures of trade tariff reduction and poses a threat to democratic control over laws and regulations. The focus of the talk will be on the effects TTIP would have on food and environmental issues, including the regulation of the chemical industry, climate change, animal welfare and food safety. It may seem that the deal is far removed from our everyday lives but it could have far-reaching consequences, which we should all know and do something about.
Talk starts at 7:30pm, light supper and drinks available from 7pm.
Entry: Pay As You Feel (PAYF) for non-members/free to members (includes a drink)
