Pop along for a cuppa and cake, and find out more about St Nicks and other inspiring environmental projects. This afternoon’s focus will be on Autumn including the natural fruit harvest and woodland crafts. We will be offering family friendly nature craft activities in the nature reserve to keep the little ones busy – join our friendly team to make nature masks and crowns, willow hearts and wands, and witches/wizards brooms! Or come and enjoy storytelling with Catherine Heinemeyer.

willow craftsWe will also be joined by Abundance York who will be in the garden to talk about all things fruit:

  • If you have any surplus apples or fruits bring them along and Abundance can redistribute them to charities and other organisations to ensure they don’t go to waste. Plus they will be making some fresh apple juice from apples collected at St Nicks and any that people bring in.
  • If you have a variety of fruit in your garden or community space you would like identifying, bring it along and they will try and work out what it is!
  • Find out about the new Orchard Club initiative. Abundance are looking to work with groups and individuals to help manage and care for the many orchards and fruits trees on public land across the city. If you’d like to get involved in this come along to find out more.
