Spoon Carving course
Sat 22 Feb 2020 at 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
St Nicks Environment Centre, Rawdon Avenue, York, YO10 3ST
The workshop, led by Paul Stead of Apple Tree Greenwood, will cover selection of wood suitable for spoons, carving tool use and safety, carving techniques and spoon finishing (seasoning and treatment). The aim is for all attendees to leave with a completed spoon ready for the finishing stage by the end of the day. All participants will also be given handouts including full written instructions and photographs to help you replicate the work after the course. The small group work will be informal and a chance to make friends amongst fellow green woodworkers. No prior experience or tools are required, though feel free to bring your own if you have them.
The workshop fee includes instruction, wood for carving, loan of suitable tools for the day, handouts plus teas and coffees (please bring your own packed lunch).
Entry: £75 (plus Eventbrite booking fee, which can be avoided by booking in person at the Environment Centre or posting a cheque to us – please call 01904 411821 for details). Booking is essential.
