Have a go at the green way of mowing grass - scything
Have a go at the green way of mowing grass - scything.

Unfortunately, we’re having to cancel this training event. If you are interested in scything, there is another workshop planned for 26th August.

Whether you are a complete beginner, a cautious improver or an experienced mower, this workshop for all abilities will concentrate on improving your scything technique. Once everyone knows how to set up a scythe correctly for their body we will warm up with some scythe exercises. Then we will head out into the nature reserve to practice body-friendly and energy efficient mowing techniques.

Depending on your interests there will be opportunities to look at mowing path edges, brambles, around trees and other obstacles, and slopes. We also have a wide range of different scythe blades for every mowing situation which you will be able to have a go with. On the day there will be the opportunity to purchase a full scythe set or extra blades from our small scythe shop on site. Whatever your current ability this workshop will be tailored to your needs to make sure everyone leaves a more confident and competent mower.

Entry: £50/£40 unwaged & members. Booking essential via the form below or on 01904 411821. All tools and equipment provided but if you have your own scythe please bring it along. Please bring appropriate outdoor clothing and pack lunch. Drinks & biscuits will be provided.
