Seggy and Jane Segaran serving delicious food from their haybox cookers, by Lewis Outing

UPDATE: We will also talk about other energy saving measures and may have Andy Walker from SURE Insulation joining us to share his experiences of super-insulating homes one room at a time. Local vegetables and bread will be provided by Food Circle. To ensure enough food for everyone, please register interest via Eventbrite or BOOK below by Friday 18th lunchtime.

Find out about energy saving techniques for your home, or share your own tips, over delicious vegan lunch made in haybox cookers by Jane and Seggy Segaran, authors of Haybox Cooking – Save Energy with Fireless Cookers.

Jane & Seggy’s talk will cover:

  • their experiences of haybox and solar cooking in York
  • overview of how to build your own haybox or solar cooker – there will be many prototypes on display
  • the benefits of integrated cooking in Sri Lanka where solar cookers and hayboxes improve people’s lives as well as save carbon

The event is part of our York Open Eco Homes project, which showcases ecological measures that also make homes more comfortable and cheaper to run. After lunch participants may want to go on to the Homes for the Future free event and visit the neighbouring EcoDepot, or join our cycle ride to open homes.

Entry: Booking is essential, to ensure enough food for everyone, via the form below or on 01904 411821.
