Zero Plastic Fantastic Challenge

Judging by the interest generated by the Plastic Myths Busted! blog post, plastics is a big issue and challenge for a lot of people. St Nicks staff will try to tackle the issue by setting ourselves the Zero Plastic Fantastic Challenge. For the next two months, between 1st April and 31st May, we will avoid single use plastic and use as little non-recyclable plastic as possible. The rules of the challenge are listed below. We’ll be keeping a journal of how we get on via our blog and social media, and display the results at the Wastebusters’ Fest in June. Watch the space and let us know if you’d like to join in!

Zero Plastic Fantastic Challenge rules:

Why are we doing this?

Each of us will have different reasons for taking part but underlining them all is the desire to live a good life on the one beautiful planet we all share without causing unnecessary damage. Plastics are great convenient materials and it’s hard to imagine our life without them but the convenience can come at a high price – from threatening wildlife to health issues, making flooding worse with blocked drainage or inefficient use of finite resources. We can all do something to prevent that by just thinking about our purchases and choosing well. We’ll see how it goes.
